Hello everyone,

I'm, obviously, a new member to the forum. I live in Southeast Lousisana (Slidell) which, for those of you not familiar with the area, just outside of New Orleans on the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain.

I'm a casual / recreational rider and am not what you would call competitive. My wife and I (and sometimes our kids) ride for recreational and fitness purposes. We've recently lost quite a bit of weight and are trying to maintain a more active lifestyle. Bike riding along with other activities is an enjoyable way that we can get outdoors and get some exercise.

We most frequently ride on the St. Tammany Trace ( Home ) which is a 30'ish mile rail-to-trail. Slidell is one end of the trace; so, it makes for a good out and back ride of various lengths.

If anyone on here uses MapMyFitness or one of the other "MapMy" variations, I'm on there and have set up routes/courses along different sections of the trace in both directions. Although, like I said, I'm not competitive, it is very interesting to see and compare my riding stats and those of others along the sections of the trace. The courses are typically set up between the different major intersections and trail heads.

In any case, I've been reading/lurking on these forums for a bit and decided I would join and contribute.

Our gear:
  • DiamondHead Hybrid Bike (me)
  • Giant hybrid (my wife)
  • MapMyFitness on Android

Welcome to Bike Forums. Looks like a nice place to ride.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. - Psalm 103:8

I am a cyclist. I am not the fastest or the fittest. But I will get to where I'm going with a smile on my face.
