Hello everyone!

My name is Ty, I'm 23 and live in Portland, Oregon. I'm a member of the USA Track & Field team and work under the sponsorship with Nike. I've been riding seriously for about 6 years now. Didn't even learn how to ride a bike until I was 13 oddly enough! My bike of choice is a 2011 Fuji Newest 3.0. I don't do tour frames.

On April 30, 2016 I will be departing on a 5,000 mile, 22 state cross country bike ride from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine on a route I planned myself. The ride is being done to raise money for cancer awareness after I lost both my parents to the disease in April 2005 and April 2015. All benefits going to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

I joined this forum to get assistance and guidance before I depart on my trip :) I have a ton of questions!

Welcome Ty ! What's your T&F event ? I lost my mother to cancer when I was 22. Good to see you taking such an active role in a search for the cure.

Thank you! I run distance. Half or full marathons usually but 50 and 100Ks as well. Not as often though. Sorry to hear about your mom. I was 12 when my dad passed from bone cancer on April 24, 2005 and 22 when my mom passed from a heart attack (caused by the lung cancer) exactly 10 years later on April 24, 2015.
