Greetings
Greetings,
I joined the forum today because I've been looking into bikes more and more, and have enjoyed the information offered here. I've been riding a bicycle as my main source of transportation for a little over 5 years now, but I've never considered working on them myself until a couple months ago. I got Lennard Zinn's Road Bike Maintenance book and it's been a real inspiration.
I recently got a new job, which pays substantially more than I used to make, and am looking into investing in a good touring bike that will take me cross-country, but will also serve as a commuter. I'm considering investing in a Surly LHT, but have been searching the Internet for some more affordable options (namely old touring bikes like the Univega Gran Turismo).
Like I said, I'd like to get into bike maintenance though, so looking into the used bikes is just looking to see what's out there even as a hobby bike, to get some practice in.
Anyway, thanks for the information you make available. Talk to you all soon.
Diego

Welcome to Bike Forums! I also rely on bicycles for my main transportation. Just finished my commuter project from a 90's rigid mountain bike. Hope that you find a bicycle that serves you well for years to come!
