Hi from a new member!
Hi fellow bike forum members. I registered earlier today. I already posted my first post as I want to take a 1987 Specialized RockCombo and enhance it to utilize its very comfy frame and add some speed for my 13 mile commute to work. I hope there are members that can help me through the process. I am 61, was fairly obsessed with bikes as a kid, have always enjoyed riding and got my first decent road bike about 13 years ago (Cannondale R2000). About a week ago I bought a Cannondale Synapse carbon as I needed to give my spine a break with something more forgiving than the CAAD 7 frame on the R2000. I will ride the Best Buddies Hyannisport ride for the 11 time this June and my son (16) and daughter(18) will be joining me this year. That's a little bit about me. This looks like a great forum and I look forward to connecting with others similarly interested in perhaps the healthiest and most enjoyable ways to get around.

The RockCombo is essentially a Mt. bike with dropped handle bars and bar end shifters. I'll post before and after photos of the make-over.

I was fortunate to find a 2015 model at the local Cannondale Store that they let go for about 1/3 off list price. I can't say enough about Best Buddies. Great organization, a very well-run ride and, obviously, for a very good cause.
