Beginner Athena Saying Hi!
Hey everyone!
I just recently got into biking and am hoping to make it my next big hobby. I haven't ridden a bike since I was 10 (now 21) so I think I am basically starting from scratch at this point.
Reasons for wanting to start: I am currently at my heaviest at 320 lbs. I've always had excuses. When I was 14 I had a major leg surgery, and once I recovered it just went downhill. I never got back into exercising or working out, and here I am now. I have a job where I am on my feet all day, but being at this weight and physical condition, it takes it's toll on my feet. I am hoping to get into better shape with something I might enjoy that will not put as much weight on my feet. I joined this site because I am actually getting very excited about cycling at the moment, and would like a community to join as motivation.
I am starting off with a lower end bike, a Diamondback Haanjenn Metro, since I don't want to spend too much money on something I'm not sure I'll stick with. Once I get better and am sure I'll stick with it, I'll try to get something better. But for my needs right now, this will do.
Hopefully I'll fall in love with cycling as much as the rest of you, I'm really looking forward to it!

Good for you to give cycling a try. You'll find lots of inspiration in the clydesdale and athena forums. Also, if you decide to do some commuting (like myself), then there's a forum for that as well. Cycle commuting is the key for me to stay in shape and still have time for my family with a crazy 3.5 yr old going on 13 toddler.
