New PNW rider
Hello,
My name is Brendan and I am a graphic designer & photographer in Seattle, WA. Like most people from the PNW I enjoy just about everything that has to do with the outdoors, so I look forward to getting back on a bike
It's been a while since I have been on a bike, I used BMX through highschool and early college, then I sold that for a hardtail MTB. After moving out and not having a whole lot of room, or time, my bike sat in my parents garage for about two years. Last summer I sold it so it wasn't just laying around anymore and this year I have decided to pick up a bike again, this time a road bike.
I have decided to sign up for the Bike MS Deception Pass Classic coming up in September so I am going to get a bike soon to train for that.
Looking forward to leaning about a new genre of bike on the forum and getting out there to log some miles!

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty excited to be able to hop back on a bike here soon
First step is picking up a bike. If anyone knows some places for good deals in the Seattle areas I am all ears! I haven't had much luck on CraigsList and I am debating if I want to drop the money on a new bike because I know I can find a better used bike for the same price. But I am starting to get to a point where I just need a bike to start training that will last a little while and I can upgrade parts/components down the line

Welcome, just go to your LBS , get advice from them as to fit, pick up something new if you can afford it , they will help with the all important fitting . BTW , I like Angle Lake Cyclery just south of SEATAC . Knowledgable , and a huge selection , new and used .

I know I need a 56cm (could change based on brand/model), and I would love to buy new but also not opposed to getting a good deal on used.
I just took a look at the Angle Lake shop you recommended, and it looks like they have a decent amount of used bikes. Can you speak to the quality of those bikes? Are they all cheap bikes or are there a lot of nice bikes in there as well?
