My name is Phil. I recently purchased a bike and began riding again. Many years ago I was an avid bike rider. Having moved to a very rural area, such that there really is nowhere in the immediate area close enough to ride a bike to, I gave up on riding bike for a long time. I moved back into an urban area, and as such I much prefer to get around on a bike rather than drive. It is better for the environment, better for me, and IMO much more enjoyable compared to driving a car. I go to school about 7.5 miles from where I live, so that is my commute 5 days a week.

I bought a Trek 7.1 FX, which I have had some minor issues with in the short amount of time that I have owned it, and that is why I have joined your community here. Hoping to get some guidance on optimizing my bike, and optimizing my experience riding it.

Thanks, Phil.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Have fun.
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. - Psalm 103:8

I am a cyclist. I am not the fastest or the fittest. But I will get to where I'm going with a smile on my face.

Hi Phil! The Trek FX is actually a pretty nice bike. I hope that you are able to get things adjusted just right. We have a mechanics section where you can ask questions. Pictures always help too.

Good luck with that!
