Hello from the Northeast

figured I'd introduce myself, my names Kyle and I just got into biking more seriously a few months ago. I've dabbled in mountain biking before, mostly on vacations in ME, and a little bit of downhill. I'm still pretty bad but hey, gotta start somewhere right.

My friends talked me into getting into road biking as well and I'm loving it, way better than doing cardio in a gym. I'm hoping to be able to train enough over the next 6-7 months to ride the transNH with them.

so far the forum has been a great resource and i'm sure it will stay that way.

Welcome to Bike Forums. What bikes do you ride?

Welcome to Bike Forums! Sounds like you are finding your favorite way to ride. I think it's always nice to be well rounded though. I do a little bit of everything. I even have what my husband calls a "granny bike". It's actually a comfort bike for those days that I don't want to be hunched over on my roadie, bouncing around on my dually mtb or on the commuter.

All kinds of discipline is good.

And like you said, I'm not good in either, just a little bit of all.

Thanks. I'm on a Giant Contend 1 for my road bike and a specialized pitch comp for mountain biking. the pitch needs a little bit of love to get it riding smoothly but I'm learning how to do that slowly.

Thanks! I think i'm doing more road riding than i am mountain right now but that could be due to a lack of mountain biking skills so far. I'm hoping to be a little more balanced next season but time will tell.

Gotta do what you feel most comfortable with. Right now, I like riding the commuter. It's just easier for me to grab and go right out the door whereas my mtb I have to drive it further out to the trails. And the roadie, around here, it's not safe to ride it.
