Hello from Colorado!

Hey fellow bike riders!

I'm back to cycling after a nearly decade long hiatus. in 2006-2007 I would sometimes commute to work on my Trek 7300 hybrid bike (about 21 miles roundtrip). I'm a 37 year old woman.

These days, I have about 6 miles each way for my commute to work. I've been riding almost every day to work since mid-August. I want to try to commute no matter the weather, we'll see how it goes. Honestly, getting outside and enjoying nature is pretty fantastic. And here in the Denver area, we have amazing bike trails. I have some decent gear, although I would love a Showers Pass jacket. I also drool over wool gear such as Ibex and Icebreaker.

I just got a new Brooks B17 Imperial S saddle, to replace my 10 year old comfort gel saddle, and I love it. It's amazing! I enjoy the greater stability the Brooks gives me. One day I want to upgrade to a pedal system, so I can ride longer distances and have better power transfer. Sheldon Brown's site is invaluable for advice, as is my LBS.

Unsurprisingly, I have major bike lust. Perhaps one day I can get a Salsa. We'll see. I'm a fan of an upright riding style, but there are so many cool bikes out there.

Welcome to our little place, glad that you joined in with us here. Great bicycle choice, my wife loves her WSD 7300 Trek, very reliable enjoyable bike. It does have a serious need for weight reduction though. And, 100% agreement about the stock saddle, she chose a Selle Italia Women's specific model, with a relief cut in it. That heavy, bulky, stock saddle was not conducive to any distance at all.

Make your self at home and find the forums that best suit your interests.

I agree about the bike being pretty heavy--especially when I carry it up 3 flights of stairs at work! It's reliable, though, and one day I can buy something fancier. But it gets me where I need to go!
