Hello from Sacramento, CA

Hello,

My name is Andy. I am a renewed rider. (Returning to biking since I got my driver's license in 1984.)

I have a 1993 Specialized Crossroads that I bought new and stored in my garage for 23 years and rode maybe 10 miles tops in that time. I was a very big boy (eventually up to 350 lbs.) I am now 175 lbs and a daily bike rider.

My renewed interest comes as I was looking for something my wife could do in the cardio area (as she just had both hip and spinal surgeries in the past year.) I ended up buying her a new 2015 Liv (Giant) Sedona DX W in the beginning of July. We started riding the local bike path and easily worked up our rides to 10-15 miles.

I took things a step further and started commuting daily. (11 miles each way.)

I also bought myself a new 2015 Felt 7 Eighty MTB for my birthday last month, and we love to adventure off the beaten paths. A couple of day trips to Lake Tahoe each month are becoming our norm.

Andy,

Welcome. Your weight loss is impressive. Also that daily commute shows a major lifestyle change.

Congratulations!

Welcome! I'm on the ARBT most mornings. Is that your commute route?

No, my commute is along Elkhorn Blvd, and a small section of the N. Sac bike trail. Not the friendliest place for a bike commuter.

Welcome aboard the Bikeforums.net family, good ot have another California rider join in with us. That weight loss is most impressive, you are in good company here for folks that used cycling as a big part of their loss program, myself included (100+ lbs gone and kept off for the last 3 years.) And, getting your wife into cycling as well, man that is amajor plus for you and her, too. NOw, get her to join you here as well.

There are several forums you can enjoy participating in here, Commuting, Mountain Bike, California Regional, and several others as well. Just peruse them and find wnat you enjoy.
