New guy from Toronto - G'day!

G'day everyone. I've lurked for a while, finally took the plunge. A bit about me:

I ride a vintage Miele with Suntour Superbe Pro groupo - yes, downtime shifters still! All my pics are in iCloud but will post one eventually. Been riding properly for about 5/6 years now. Longest ride is 240km (Toronto-St Catherines-Toronto). I enjoy centuries and hoping to earn my brevet card and ride PBP and LEL.
Currently trying to decide what my next ride will be: custom steel/Ti frame or fully built CF Ultegra disc from Cannondale, Specialized or GT. I'll be riding the Alberta leg of the Tour for Kids in 2017 so will take the extra weight over stopping power. I'd like DI2 as well but given the expense i'm on the fence about that one... This are questions for another forum though! Next order of business is to get out on the models I'm looking at and see which stands out (or down).
I'm also a passionate downhill skier, just not in Ontario

Welcome.

Picking out a new bike is always fun. It sounds like you have lots of options you're considering too

Welcome aboard, good to have someone from the Great White North join in here, you aren't alone, and its pretty good company. If you have lurked around you probably already visited the C&V Forum Classic & Vintage - Bike Forums if not, you need to get over when you can and join in. It is my go to Forum, great folks there with some absolutely limitless knowledge about the C&V world. Or at least we like to think so.

'Tis indeed! I'm a geek at heart so researching options is fun. We had great weather Friday (snowing right now...) so i took out a Cannondale Super6 Evo and the Gt Grade for a spin up the Bayview extension. The GT turned me off "endurance" bikes! (the only thing better about it was the disc brakes) I'll probably be going with a race frame and am planning to demo the CAAD12 next Saturday - bundled up of course. The Evo felt like it was perfectly set up for me while the Grade felt... cumbersome.
Although they bill the Grade as an "all road" bike, going over rough patches was way better on the Evo. i think the extra weight of the grade "planted" it too firmly.

That'll be a tough one - I'm also a Tottenham Hotspur fan!

Thanks Bill. They'd probably help me nail down the year of my Miele!

I'll also be taking a Norco Tactic and/or Valence out for a spin next Sunday - patriotic Canadian I that I am. If they're anything like the 2 i rode Friday, I'll be leaning towards the Tactic.

Thanks agin!
