Hello. Need some buying advice

I want to buy a bike for my teenager. I have tight budget. We ride on the road some, but mostly on the eastern trail which is hard packed dirt. Something under 400.00. I just didn't want to buy a piece of junk. I'm going to trade up too. We ride about once or twice a week. I'm in my 60s with some health problems. Thanks. filix.

Welcome to Bike Forums. This is the Introductions forum.
Ask your question in the General Cycling Discussion forum and you'll get lots of replies.
Since you're 60 something stop by the 50+ forum and say hello. I hang out there. I'll be 72 in a few weeks.

I am a cyclist. I am not the fastest or the fittest. But I will get to where I'm going with a smile on my face.

Welcome aboard, as Ron said above, ask questions in the forums I'd say from your post that you should look in the Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking Forum:Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking - Bike Forums for drop bar, road like bikes.

Or you can check out our Mountain Biking Forum for more off road oriented equipped bikes:Mountain Biking - Bike Forums

If you want a more recreational type of bike, I'd look at a Hybrid bicycle from a good reputable local bike store (LBS) Hybrid Bicycles - Bike Forums

There are a whole host of other forums here, surf around and pick out some that will fit your interests. Good on you for riding with your son, its a great investment in his future.
