New guy from Destin Fl.

Hello, My name is Dale, I am trying to decide what bike to get to use to get back into shape etc... I plan to have a recumbent also in the mix, but want a traditional DF bike, so it fits in better with less animosity etc..
Eventually I would like to get into some road riding, but currently just having fun with the family etc...
Can anyone steer me into a decent road bike...
also a good all around bike, bike path, dirt , light trail stuff nothing major, will most likely stick to hard dirt trail if anything..besides the bike path (paved) and some road rides in the neighborhood,

Welcome aboard, from a Pensacola rider. We have several forums that should serve your interests very well, General Cycling, Recumbents, Family and Recreational Cycling. Also, you should check in with the Southeastern Regional Forum for others in our area, it will keep you in contact with the others nearby.

Welcome. A suggestion is find a nice used bike locally on Craigslist or something similar. Ride it a while, watch what others use on the same conditions, and see what seems best. Then visit some local stores, do test rides, and make a decision. But as most of us find, one bike is never enough.

Welcome Dale from west central Florida. I'd suggest visiting a bike shop or two and talk with the owner about your budget, goals, desired riding style (road, mtn, hybrid, etc), how many miles per week and how often you'll ride. S/he can get you on the correct bike. If you have any questions about brands, models, etc be sure to post them in the General Cycling Discussion or whatever forum seems the best for good answers.

To meet locals stop by the Southeast Regional subforum and say hello. Be sure to post pics of your bike when you get it.
