New old rider in San Antonio

Hello!

I'm Bill and I live in San Antonio, Tx. Although I rode a lot as a child, I started riding seriously in the early 80s, when I started participating in triathlons. For years my ride was a Trek 560 - for competitions, fun, and even commuting. It still runs great, but has been given to my 27 year old son, who lives in Portland. I stopped riding in the 90s.

Then last year, my wife and I decided to start riding again. When I stopped by a local bike store, after a few test rides I rode away with a Trek 8.3 DS (21, black) with my wife also on an 8.3 DS (17.5, lime green) even though she still has her road bike (Centurion Elite RS). We have one son still at home (an 8 year old). He loves to ride and we have not let him get over-scheduled with organized youth sports, so we have time to ride. Although we're on hybrids and he's on a mountain bike, we've been doing Saturday rides of 20+ miles and have a goal of riding a century before the year is out. Our first big test will be the 50 mile track of the Jalapeno 100 in Harlingen at the end of February.

Looking forward to learning more as I get involved with this forum.

Welcome aboard from yet another Bill, great to see you returning to cycling. Lots of folks here are coming from similar situations and have returned to riding. several forums here could be places you might well enjoy using and participating in regularly. Hybrids, Recreational and Family Cycling, General Cycling all are great resources. Glad to have you join in with us.

Bill
