Greetings from Sarasota

Came to Bike Forums for some advice, but don't want to neglect my Florida manners.

I'm a very-early-retired architectural chemist (Ask me anything about building failures.) and have been living on this wonderful key full time for 6 years. Now I'm a modernist cook, recreational sewer, decorative carpenter, math/science tutor, diver, art puzzler, and outdoor enthusiast.

Most people here will testify God made these islands to take the shock out of entering Heaven. The moderate climate and surrounding area is ideal for recreation and the community is extraordinarily active. People are constantly paddling, walking, fishing, and whizzing by in bike bunches. The food is fresh, the water is clean, the cost of living is ridiculously low, and draw bridges guarantee no zombies.

(Sorry, can't post pix yet.)

I'm from that area as well (Clearwater), and couldn't agree more, the perfect weather for year-round riding. Enjoy!

Welcome to Bike Forums from west central Florida (Nature Coast area). Sounds like you too are enjoying the good life.
Stop by the Southeast Regional subforum and say hello to the locals. Lots of Florida folks and SW Florida folks on here.
Have fun.

Welcome from Louisiana. Maybe someday you can tell us what a "recreational sewer" is.

Hi there. Thanks for the welcome.

It's never hot here but the humidity is off scale. During the 6 month summer we are constantly bathing. I need 3 to 4 (times 2) swimsuits every day, because why wear anything else? So I started making patterns and sewing them to keep from going broke. Then beach bags and kayak accessories. Then church stuff and now bike bags. The snowbirds discard acres of canopy fabric.

Greetings to you. Oh man Sarasota is a wonderful area. My mom stays around there I usully get to go visit but not this year unfortunately. Beautiful spot I have an abandoned bikes direct hybrid there. Took many rides over to siesta key loved going over that bridge from the circle to sarasota. (More fun on the way down)

Well come down more often and stay for a while. You'll live longer.

The Ringling Bridge is our hill. I achieved my fastest speed ever going down. The crest of the bridge is the best place to hang out for fireworks.
