BigWil in the house!

So, you guys want an introduction, so here we go:

I'm BigWil, and apparently a Clydesdale (6'6" and 245lbs). I am active duty military somewhere up in Canada, and haven't really ridden a bike in years.

I want to get back into riding a bike, so I'm here to learn, and to purchase one soon.

Oh, and once I get used to this bike riding thing again, I'm going to ride to and from work (11km ride each way) just because I don't like working out when I'm working shift work, so I'm going to use a bike ride to and from work as a good way to get some exercise in.

Hi BigWil, welcome to Bike Forums! Did you check out the Clydes section? There are many people who might be able to help you choose a bike that is right for you. You might also want to check out the General section as well.

Siu Blue Wind, I've already posted up, and have a good idea that I will be about a grand lighter in the next few days.

Welcome BigWil. You've gotten some good suggestions, so all I have to add is... Can I catch a draft off of you?

Have fun!

Please don't buy a bike that is too small, even when the sales person offers a deal and tells you, "we can get a longer seatpost and stem and probably make this 60cm frame fit like a glove."

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone!

You can definitely catch a draft off me. However, my diet consists exclusively of pork and beans. Your call. :roflmao2:

Welcome to Bike Forums. What bike(s) are you considering? Check out the Commuting forum for pointers on how to carry your stuff, how to stay safe, what to wear, how to clean up when you get to work, etc. Have fun.
