Hello from Chicago south side
Hi, all.
I'm an Irish guy living outside Chicago. I've had a Specialized Rockhopper I've had for trail riding for 10 years or so. I'm slowly converting it into something like a stout touring/commuter style bike. I've gotten into road riding this fall for the first time since I was a kid in Ireland, and even then it was just because I had no car. I did go for the occasional short spin but nothing crazy. I was given a Free Spirit road bike that I saw neglected in my neighbor's garage. I put new tires on it and cleaned it up and took off riding around the area. Since then I picked up a Trek 2100 and it is a great little bike. I think a tad too small or I'm not bendy enough. I've put an adjustable stem on it and have it dialed in now I think. I'm debating on getting a chromoly frame and making some kind of randonneur style bike out of parts. I'm pretty handy and it would be an interesting project if I could find a way to do it without breaking the bank. I've been reading bikeforums and am thankful for all the contributors sharing their knowledge. It has been a great help. |
