Hello from Savannah
Hello,
I've been trolling this forum off and on for about a year and finally decided to join. Thanks for accepting.
I live and work in Savannah, GA with my wife and 2 kids (toddlers). I re-discovered my love for cycling here with my wife while riding around this beautiful city. On a whim I mentioned that I might start biking to work my wife thought I was bluffing and challenged me. I warned her.. gave he fair warning that I used to bike a long time ago..she might not want to unleash this beast. She didn't believe me. Now she has to live with a fleet of 8 bikes and the two kids that i'm currently in the process of brainwashing into bike nerds as well.
I commuted for about a year on an old 80's Schwinn Mountain Bike. Then upgraded to a used 2008 GT Transeo 3.0 for for about two years. I just upgraded to a 2012 Scott Team Cyclocross bike that I am converting into a commuter and possibly weekend racer(at some point.. maybe).
I'm fortunate enough to have a multimodal commute that involves 1.5 miles through an older established neighborhood with bike lanes. Then about 3 miles though beautiful downtown Savannah down to Bay Street. From there I take the cobblestone Factors Walk ramps down to Riverstreet where I board a ferry to ride across the Savannah River to the Westin/Savannah Trade and Convention center. There I cut though their parking lot, under a couple of gates across a dirt road then under another gate to get onto the street to my office. Along the way I take pictures.
Please check out my photos and follow me on instagram @savannahbikecommuter.
Thanks

Yeah, a fantastic commute. You could take a different route through historic Savannah each day, too.

I visited Savannah last month, walking around for a day, and took the paddlewheel boat tour, too.
The small human scaled squares repeated every few blocks were all landscaped differently, very nice.
