Hello from NewZealand

I rode bikes from the 60's to 80's and didn't think much about it. Four years ago I decided to get fitter and purchased a road bike. The joy of riding returned to me. I entered events and even joined the local cycling club, never thought I'd do that. Then I brought a modern carbon bike, then a work mate said he has a mate who trains on an old steel bike in the winter. What a good idea I thought. So I purchased a mid 90's NZ made Bauer, Momentum 4000 in original and very tidy condition. When I unwrapped it I was thrilled to be reminded about the aesthetic of spindly thin steel tubes, and that someone in NZ made it . Then the obsession really began, somehow as if by magic beautiful steel bikes and frames in my size in various states of repair started arriving as well as small parcels of bike bits from all over the world. Now I have about a dozen road bikes I ride whenever I can on our quiet local roads. Thanks for your words.

Hi TMonk. Variations of: North of Westport to Karamea, South to Punakaiki on the stunning coast rode and up the Buller Gorge to Inangahua. Coast, bush, mountains, rivers, birds, campervans, rain, wind, sun all good for gritty grovels and speedy blasts.

Greetings from California!

Nice to see you back on the bike. A lot of us rediscovered the joy of cycling all over again.
