Hey all!
After doing far too much research and debating I got an 84 or 85 Schwinn Voyageur SP at the end of May after using my dad's old (too small for me) Continental for a number of years. I plan to get it dialed in to my preferences over the next couple months and probably do a bit of work on it during the winter so that it will be touring ready come spring next year. As I'm in NYC I plan on using it for day-to-day transport as well. It's been great riding again after not doing any the last year!

Still the greatest city in the world! I grew up right outside of Philly so I'm a Phillies fan, never was a fan of that DH rule
I've gotten a bit of help from the threads about Voyageurs over there already. Plan on making my way over and starting one myself!

Voyageur and Continentals! You’ll love the C&V people and they will love you too.

Been mulling getting a vintage bike to use as a transportation bike as well. Hope it goes well for you!

Definitely crazy drivers. Had a nice close encounter with a taxi the other week on what was supposed to be a leisurely night ride. Luckily I escaped unscathed!
So far so good, Meg! Didn't really have the funds for something shiny and new. The research (helped in part by these forums) really seems to be paying off. The Voyageur is a joy to ride.
