Paraphrasing Zeno, All cyclists are friends of one another
I have been reading bike forums for quite a long time and i thought i might say hello to everyone and thank you for being a cyclist.
I live in Tunisia, a small country in north africa.
Not many people ride bicycles around here, mostly cars. No bike lanes either, but it's probably better that way.
My previous bike had a frame made by Serge Mannheim, Campagnolo Athena components and a 3T Paris-Roubaix handlebar. I took the components and installed them on a cheap Decathlon 7.1 i bought by chance 2 years ago.
I had an accident six years ago. It was my fault. After a general bike overhaul, the rear light stopped working and i was careless enough to forget to buy a new one the next day. The driver didn't care to stop and help either, but i made it to a nearby gas station.. My helmet probably saved my life, now i have a nice scar on my face to remind how lucky i have been.
It took me 6 years to be ready again to go back on two wheels.
I hope we will make our planet a better place to live in.

Welcome to Bike Forums, I'm really glad that you decided to join.
I'm sorry about your accident and you coming here and telling us about it will certainly be a lesson for all of us, not just you. I thank you for being brave enough to admit your over looking the lights but I am sure you were so busy that forgetting it just happened. I am indeed thankful that you survived, and are now able to try cycling again. My best wishes for you and may you ride many many safe miles.
