Hi from Ohio

Hey all! I've been here for a while but for the most part have been reading. Many moons ago, in the late 70's before I started driving, I worked on bikes. One thing I did was build a chopper out of a 20" banana seat Huffy and a 26" 10-speed from the trash. I took the 10-speeds front fork, hub and gear and made them work with the Huffy frame. Nothing matched, it was extremely rattly and took forever to get going. But when it did get going fast enough it would keep up with the cars in our 25MPH subdivision. Soon after when I did start driving cars the bikes were forgotten, unfortunately.
I've recently gotten interested in bikes again. Still have the 27" Sears Free Spirit 10-speed my parents got me when I was 14 (1977) and the Shimano Positron II RD still works. Last fall I found a 1982 Shogun 400 in a neighbors shed along with quite a few other bikes. After only knowing bikes made of steel pipe, picking up the Shogun really got my attention! It was so lightweight. It's a keeper for me.

Thanks all!

Where are you located 05 Fuji? I'm in Canton.

I'd love to see a photo of your Shogun mikeng64.

I'm glad to be here cb400bill. I've been reading for months and there's still so much more.

Welcome, Igor P! The Stingray deal definitely brings back memories. I did a Krate springer, cut the spring so I could have a cool rake, and took the banana seat off, and went with a single. Cool days.
