Hello from So. Cal

Just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Southern California and just got my first road bike. I've been a mountain biker for 28 years and still love the dirt however I am having a blast on the road. Good lord I never thought I would call myself a "roadie" but alas, here I am!

My name is Michael and I'm here to learn and share experience.

Welcome to Bike forums Micheal. :thumb:..nothing wrong with being a "Rodie" and for 28 years no less! There is a lot of information and experience to share here.
Best, Ben

I used to live in San Pedro a while ago, you have a great local shop down the hill from you in San Pedro, "The Bike Palace". They should still have great rides starting from their store. Go stop in. Very friendly folks.

If you are a touch competitive you can join either of the 2 Long Beach clubs, Velo Allegro (more serious) or Lightning Velo (fast people but also cater to beginners and midlevel riders - they have an A, B, and C group).

On the other side of your hill is SBW, South Bay Wheelman (club). Good club and started out in Redondo Breach for starts. Anyways, my suggestion is to tag along and ride with these clubs for a few rides and figure out which one you can gell with. I was a member with all of these clubs as I have moved around alot in the 20 years here.

Clubs and club riding get you motivated and lets you learn all the good roads to ride on down here.

Good luck!
