Hello from San Diego!!!

Hello everyone!! Al here, from Southern San Diego (San Ysidro) funny how life sometimes brings us full circle.
Been out of the hospitality industry and also from cycling for the same amount of time. Approx 23 years.

Just jumped.back into both and could not be happier. Despite most of us being in the same global health situation, positivity and resourcefulness is key to keeping a great state of mind.

About six month ago, I purchased a 1986 tulip red 56cm Peugeot triathalon. Frame is destroyed by rust but purchased a separate identical frame to restore and rebuild.

Originality is not a goal. It will be a backdated in appearance and color changed. Drivetrain is Dura-Ace 7400. Wheels are Mavic clinchers on Dura-Ace hubs. Black leather Selle Rolls seat. Cinelli bars with shellac on cloth bar tape. Quill neck on the longer side. Haven't decided on brake levers but leaning towards non areo hooded with drilled levers.

Please feel free to leave feedback and ideas on paint color.

Leaning towards a solid green with a bit of grey (not celeste green. Darker.) Other option is going towards dark burgundy (almost blood)

You all stay healthy!!

Happy trails.

Thanks Bill!!
Received an email from your PM stating that I'm not yet allowed to use the PM feature. Too new😊. Seamus bike shop in downtown San Diego, just a few blocks south of city college. Seamus is a really, really nice guy with great vintage parts, what ever he doesn't have, he can very likely source and he very fair with pricing. Hours are always flexible there so call or email to not use up a trip needlessly.

Painting my own bike. Practicing a a couple of old frames useless frames

Thanks!! I think you'll see me as you are passing me on the road😝. Going to be really slow at first then just kind of slow but loving every second of it. Some people like the social aspect of hobbies. That being said..... I hope to organize some vintage bike rides together. How far up the 805 are you?

Strip the frame and polish it and leave it raw! What kind of tubing?

Frameset is built with Super Vitus 980. As stripping is part of the painting process and polishing can be a good therapeutic thing to do, maybe I just might do it.
