Hello from Portland, OR
Hey all,
long time bike guy here. Have loved bikes all. My. Life. Been away for a few years but am back finally.
commuted off and on for the last 20 years or so and am finally just recreationally riding.
I picked up an older Pinarello FP2 last year and after a bout of pinch flats on the front I finally gave up on that carbon rim set and traded some parts for an old Mavic aluminum set. Not the sexiest but they dont eat tubes and are super sturdy so what's not to love.
I dot. get to ride as much as I like but am finally stacking up a few miles here and there.
that's about it for me for now... will peruse the threads and see what's what. Glad to see the bike community is going strong...

Welcome Emmerthouse. We moved to Oregon in 2008. Lived in Hillsboro until a couple of years ago. Loved, loved, loved, riding in Washington County. Didn't ever get to do Hagg Lake but got lots of miles in on the farm roads. There is a ... Banks to Vernonia Trail, something like that, didn't do that either but it is VERY popular. Check it out (for us). Don't like riding on the Eastside nearly as much. Just commuting and errands now. Would kill for a nice loop in a park somewhere like what we had in NYC (Central Park and Prospect Park).

the gf doesn't ride much but is humoring me and wants to ride the veronica banks trail soon so I'll post pics of that ride when it happens.
this summer I am going to leave from Hillsboro and rise to Astoria and have the gf meet me that evening so we can spend the weekend at the beach. Cant wait for that one.

I have a xero 16 spoke front hub and a shimano 24 spoke rear hub still laced to wheels. Am thinking of ordering rims and spokes and trying my hand at lacing them up at home. I think I can fashion up a build table and a truing stand from an old fork.
well see how that goes. As much as I'd love a sweet set of deep v carbon wheels I just cant justify the dollars right now so home build it is.

there is still hostility but mostly well tolerated. I haven't had a bottle thrown at me this year at least.
