Hello from another Classic Vintage Pinarello rider

Hello all, I am an active baby boomer who has been cycling off and on since I was a youngster. Between the many activities I participated in throughout my teenage years I always loved cycling. Between semesters in college I rode from Vancouver to Toronto Ontario - though the plan was to get to Newfoundland - too much fun along the way and the upcoming semester put a hold on that. Later in life I purchased a 1985 Pinarello Treviso in Toronto's Westend Bloor Street District, which I later sold after an accident and later repairing. In 1989 I purchased a Pinarello Montello frame and used the old 1985 components from the Treviso. Life got in the way and the Pinarello went into the basement once I moved to the mountains. Several years ago I purchased a ROKH and although it was a wonderful bicycle, my heart and memories were always turning back to the love of my steel Pinarello. Over 60 now, I find the backcountry skiing and climbing adventures are taking their toll and all the more reason to restore the Pinarello. Hopefully a few more years of riding would be wonderful. So I am here to ask for help and hope I am able to find the necessary knowledge and items needed to get my beauty back on the road. I have many questions and hope to be able to post them.

Update. After lots of feedback regarding my Pinarello Montello, regarding the dropouts, paint scheme and serial numbers, it may appear that the bicycle store actually sold me an older '85 frame rather than an '89. This is very interesting. I am going to post a thread later today asking for help in finding information on the bicycle store that was located in Toronto, Ontario.

1985, 1986 or 1989 Pinarello Montello Frame?
Most info so far points to 1985.

Frame: 1989 Columbus SLX with Campy dropouts‬ - Red framed decal

Frame Head Tube Badge: - badge not a decal ‬

Frame Paint Scheme: Arco LA 84 - Celebrating Grewal win in '84 Olympics

1988 Tour de France decal - which led me to believe it was an '88-89 frame. It was suggested that the dealer added it.

1985 Components from my Treviso

Forks: Columbus SLX - Blue framed decals

Headset: Mavic 310 or 312

‪Crankset: ‬Mavic 630 ‪ ‬9/16" x 20 (English), 170mm h

Chainrings: Mavic 144BCD 42-53

Brake Calipers: Modolo Master Pro

Brake levers: Modolo Master pro

Brake pads: Non original and will purchase originals.

‪Rear Cassette: Regina ‬- Extra BX 13-21

‪Rear Derailleur: ‬Mavic 851 SSC

‪Handlebars: Cycloman Mod. Starling‬

‪Pedals: Shimano Clip-ins‬

‪Stem: Pinarello‬ stamped - Simplex?

‪Seatpost: American Classic‬

‪Saddle: Super Turbo‬

Hubs: Mavic 580 CX

‪Rims Mavic MA40‬

‪Tires: Michelin Krylion 700 x 23C‬

Thanks in advance.

You are going to want to post this bike with some pics in the C&V section. But first you might as well introduce yourself a bit more and respond to a few posts. The site won't let you post pics until you have 10 posts.

Nice bike, looking forward to seeing the pics.

Yes thanks very much, I am really new to forum ettiquette and trying to sort it out. I am posting a bunch of questions and hope to be able to post some pics soon. I had asked a question on another thread and managed to send some pics there. The bicycle is in great shape but some items are needed!!

I have stripped mine down now and starting to clean and polish all the components. Good luck with your restoration.
