Hello everyone, glad to have found this forum. Located in Vancouver (BC) In Canada. Just got my 1st bike after 15 years of being bikeless, and 1st ever road bike. Will post up a separate thread with pics and questions and so on in proper forum. Looking forward to learing from rest of you and picking your brains.

Cheers

Hi neighbour! I'm in nearby Steveston.
I've got a similar story: used to ride a lot, then a big gap of being bike-less and have been getting back into riding and catching up on modern bike technology.

Hey Steve, I am in South Surrey, moved here 3 years ago from DT. Last bike I owned was from Sport Mart I think, so that tells you about what kind of bikes I had so far haha.

Back in the '70s to late '90 I rode a lot until I had my bikes stolen ('70s Bottecchia Special & Asama Blacktusk hybrid).
I just kind of lost all the momentum there for ~10 years, but then I bought a Supercycle Tempo Hybrid for 50% off on impulse when I was wandering through Canadian Tire.
I put many Kms on that bike and got back into the habit of daily rides.

A couple of years ago I bought a Giant Escape Hybrid project off of craigslist and gave the Supercycle bike to the local thrift store. It's a real upgrade to the bikes I've had before and I''ve set it up as my main means of transportation, rarely ever drive the car now.

Thats awesome that you can use bike as your daily. I know that gov't keeps pushing for this, and keeps shutting down as may vehicular lanes as they can, so we are all forced to do this haha. Any recommendations for good shop to get bike checked out and serviced, and fitted?

My LBS is still on very limited access, they have a 6-week waiting list for repairs.
I'm lucky enough that I found an honest & inexpensive guy that does set-ups and repairs out of his garage a 15 minute ride from here.
Nearer to you, maybe call Charles at the South Surrey DIY Bike Shop.
He's a good guy, but that's a long ride from Steveston.

Thanks again for the info. Gave him a call and will be going in on Wednesday.
