Hello from Toronto, Canada

Hello,

I have been biking for about 40 years now. I have commuted to work (5km one way) for about 5 years and in recent years I have been riding for exercise for weight loss and to stay healthy. I do love to ride paved trails and some light off-roading. The reason I joined is that I need help finding a replacement bike for a recently stolen one. I bought it in 2011 at Bert's in the US where they were very helpful in identifying a suitable bike for me and I ended up going with the Cannondale Quick 4. However, all though I'm familiar with it, I have not kept up with technology and I have no idea of various levels of equipment. I know prices go up with smaller/lighter components but that's about it.

I will post in the hybrid section and hopefully I can get help identifying a good replacement bike. It's not as easy as it may seem mostly because the same bike I bought 9 years ago costs more than double what I paid for it thanks to inflation.

Cheers

Hello from Oslo! The Cannondale Quick 4 is a solid bike - sorry to hear it's been stolen. When asked previously, I've always steered friends / family towards the FX line of Trek bikes. They make really good bang for the buck in the fitness/hybrid category. Cannondale Quicks are also great, and the specs are very similar.

Yes, I'm starting to realize just how good it is/was/is for the price. I can tell by how there are lots of the usual Giant/Specialized/Trek bikes listed used and no Cannondales. None of the stores have any new Quicks specifically.

Somone listed one just like mine only two years newer asking $800. When I told him it's too high (I paid $650 for it new) he said I could have it for $550. Then he sold it for $800 before I had a chance to pick it up.

It's a great time to be selling bikes! I was looking at a listing for a 17 year old bike that had an msrp of $400 asking $200 and they disclosed that the derailleur doesn't work and it has rust.
