Helloo

I've often come across useful advice through these forums whilst browsing the internet but beginning to feel the need for more custom advice, so here I am. I love cycling on the road and taking off road detours. Currently riding an old cheap hardtail mtb that I'm trying my best as an amateur to upgrade (having had my beautiful cyclocross stolen a few years ago). Current goal is to do some touring with the hardtail and improve it's comfort and performance on the road.

If anyone could point me in the right direction for getting modding advice for such a bike I'd appreciate it as there's obviously a lot of different subforums to choose from

Welcome,
The Classic & Vintage section has a thread concerning MTB (Mountain Bike) to Drop Bar and a thread on MTB to Upright Bar conversions.
There is also a MTB conversion thread in the Hybrid forum
One thing that always comes up is whether or not what you have is worth converting. If your MTB is a really cheap Walmart bike, maybe not worth doing much.
You can change the tires on one of those for a bit more all road capability, but doing much more will generally not be recommended.
Most of the conversions will start with a better MTB, usually a stronger and lighter frame, probably better components.
Good luck,
Dave
