Greetings from Santa Cruz California area
Hi, I am based in the Santa Cruz California area and mostly alternate between my road and mountain bike. We are quite spoiled here with the weather and some nice roads as well as trails.
I am thinking about getting a vintage road bike to tinker around and to experience how these bikes “feel” on the road.

Welcome. Up here in the real North we use vintage bikes for our foul weather bike riding. But I guess, you wouldn't know anything about that.
The rain hasn't abated here in almost a week and we're looking at another week for sure.

My old home town with great riding of all types in a super climate. Welcome to the forum. Really need to get a bike down there and ride the Soquel and Felton areas. The road from Felton along the San Lorenzo to the ocean is epic, but narrow. Need to take a bike back down to your neck of the woods. Making me nostalgic, so super glad you are here.

I was Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz from ‘86 til ‘04. Loved the mountain roads to the Summit - Mt Charlie & Zayante especially. And Hwy 1 North. And flat centuries to Monterey.
My son was big into the mtn biking scene.
A great place to be - Santa Cruzin!
Go UCSC Banana Slugs!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I didn't grow up here and even though we are living now since 10 years in the area we don't take the weather and roads/trails for granted. Maybe my kids...by I tell them at least once per week that this is not normal.
By the way, it started raining over the weekend.

Welcome Vitma . I always enjoyed Santa Cruz. My mother is an alumni at the UC and my father is from San Jose so I grew up visiting somewhat often. I also started racing (road) bikes intercollegiate in ~07 and thoroughly enjoyed it, with a tough circuit race up to McLaughlin and time trials up Bonny Doon road. Enjoy!!!
