Hello from Jacksonville Beach, FL!

Hello all - this is such a great resource for bike info! I recently moved to Jax Bch and have become more involved with daily cycling and cruising. When I moved into my apartment, I noticed they had a lot of old bikes in their bike racks. I asked the manager of the complex what they do with all of the the old bikes, and they said that they usually just throw them away about once a year if no one claims them. So I contacted one of the local charities to see if they would be interested in taking them, and they said yes. The apartment manager told me they would round them all up and then let me know when I could collect them. I soon received a phone call and I went and picked up over 20 bikes. Most of them were in bad condition and the local charity place would not take them, so I sifted through the good and bad and took the rest to a metal recycling facility. This left me with about 6 bikes that were worth while. I have a garage associated with my apartment and I stored the bikes in there and would work on them each day after work. I soon had all the bikes up and running again when one of my neighbors asked me about all of the bikes. He told me that he had been looking for a bike to ride locally, and so I gifted him one of the bikes (Mango Cruiser). He was very happy with the deal, and I soon gifted more of the bikes in the area to others who needed a bike, the rest I took back to the local charity place. I have really enjoyed finding these old rusty bikes at local apartments and condos, and it keeps me very busy in the afternoons after work, but that is a good thing! I look forward to chatting with some of you very soon.

Bikes are a good hobby.
Riding and wrenching.

Enjoy.

Welcome! I was born and raised in Daytona, not too far from you. How's the cycling where you are?
