Hello from Oregon
My wife didn't want me to buy a motorcycle so I bought a bicycle. Bought a bike in May. Before that it had been 20 years since I did any "real" cycling. Having lots of fun and trying to rack up the miles!

Welcome.
What Bike did you get? |
Welcome back. I took a 15 year break from it. I hope you have as much fun as I'm having?

One can actually get across the city by bike, I think. The Springwater Corridor makes a good cross-city path, and I think the city is getting more and more interconnected with bike paths all the time, although I seem to have found all the wrong routes. But a lot has changed in the city since I used to ride up there 25 years ago. Watch out for Pedalpalooza mid summer every year. https://www.pedalpalooza.org/ https://www.shift2bikes.org/pages/pedalpalooza/ |
I'm in Southwest Portland, nearly Beaverton. Occasionally Andy_K and I ride over to Oregon City just to take the Munincipal Elevator and check out the falls.

Welcome.
I'm east over in Gresham, active in the long distance and randonneuring group. I ride out the Gorge way a lot, but I do ride down through Oregon City occasionally, heading down to Aumsville on a 200k permanent. That area is nice because you can get to flat or hilly terrain. Oregon City to Portland via the Trolley Trail is pretty low traffic stress, and gets you right to the Springwater. River Rd is a quicker route to Portland, without the joggers and dogs-on-leash as the Trolley Trail. Heading south out of Oregon City quickly gets you out to flatter open spaces. |
