Another new bike
I hadn't ridden a bike in years. I used to ride a Schwinn 10-speed when I was younger.
About 3-4 years ago, I bought a decent, $1200 ebike. I liked riding it, but it was too heavy, so I sold it.
Since I was in an apartment at the time, I then bought a Gocycle. After moving into a house, I bought a full-sized ebike.
I like to do long rides. After riding all day on the full-sized ebike, my backside prompted me to investigate recumbent trikes. I now own an ICE Adventure (it's my Lazy Boy on wheels).
You'd think that I now had enough bikes. I still wanted something that I could use to get to/from remote rivers and lakes with my packraft (easy trails, not MTB). I'd been hiking to these. I like hiking, but some hikes are rather long. I also wanted a folder that I could take on a plane. The Gocycle won't do, because of the battery. So, time to do some research and spend more money.
Someone recently recommended Bike Friday. I had never heard of them. After lots of research, watching YT videos, and looking at other folding bikes, I decided to spend the money for a custom Bike Friday.
I ordered a NWT Silk, so I could have the belt drive. I also went with a Rohloff 14-speed IGH (even more money). My ICE trike has a Rohloff, and I love it. Because of the Rohloff, the bike will have disc brakes. Mud guards and racks were also added, along with wider 1.75" Marathon tires. I wanted different tires, but they couldn't source them. I may change tires, later. I should get the bike March-April.
For most riding, I'll use the trike, because it's so comfortable to ride, that I don't want to get off of it. But for the easy trails to the water, and flying, the BF will be great. I'm looking forward to riding it.
Now, I'll probably sell the Gocycle. I've already decided to sell the full-sized ebike, as the trike took its place. I'll have to wait some time before I buy any more bikes
