Re-joining, from SE Wisconsin

Hi All. I had an account 10 years ago but lost the ability to log in when I let the old email go away.
I joined again last year with this account. In those days, I was a commuter only.

Where I am now:
  • Getting back into cycling; mostly with eBikes so far. (it's so nice not to have the hills or headwinds kill me, though I'm not getting as strong as I would be with a mechanical bike)
  • Went on an organized group ride this past weekend with my hybrid bike with underinflated tires and realized I want a road bike. Don't know where to start, but I don't want to spend a ton. "The engine" is overweight by about 30 lbs, so there's no point in counting ounces on the bike.
  • Looking for more riding buddies in my area
I'm also addressing my alcohol problem (with Naltrexone) and using cycling to get back into shape at the same time.

I hope to other locals to ride with. I have one coworker who is a pretty serious cyclist. Does gravel and road races about every 3rd weekend and never rides less than 30 miles at a stretch. My commute now is 2 miles, so I can't keep pace with him, hehehe. Don't be afraid to reach out through PM.

See you around!

Good on you for getting back on the bike. Don't the e-bike haters get you down, man! And stay strong in your battle against the bottle; you CAN beat it.

Welcome! Keep the positive momentum going. I got back into cycling after I got sober back in 2016 and I'm still sober today. You can absolutely do it!
