Writing/riding from the 808

Hey group

Been road-riding since I was 13, and riding bikes in general since I was about 3. Right now I live on Kauai and we have some great riding here.

My first road bike was a Raleigh Technium, awesome bike. Raced it a lot and then took it on a tour from Oregon to Southern California over 28 days. All on Aerolite titanium pedals (remember those?!)

Had that for years until I wore it out, then found a mid-90s Ken Evans with all campy! Still have it and use it as a daily driver. Also have a late 90s early carbon Aegis with 105, it's a little bit too tall for me though.

Anyway, most days you'll see me on the Cannondale T-1 with the wife. We love climbing the hills here on Kauai.
Loving the forums and talk to everyone soon!

Takes me back! I had Galli levers with real rubber "gummy" hoods, one of those early Avocet cyclometers, and I wore a day-glo Brancale hairnet.

Aloha Brah from the 9th Island!
What part of Kauai? I lived there, Kapaa, back in the 90's and left after Inikki. GREAT riding in Kauai.
Best downhill ride was one we did in Waimea Canyon and ended with a view over Polihale beach. I don't know if the natrual slide inland of Anahola is still there but that also used to be good ride.

I wish I was there. The views must be breathtaking. But the hills and climbs must be good training. I ran 10 ks for years and never ever stopped during a run until I ran the Catalina 10 k. Up then down, then up then down I was dying and had to stop. I was very embarrassed. I didn't care what anyone else thought I was embarrassed for myself. Even in the 10th Special forces in BadToelz Germany we ran six hours carrying 50 pounds we never, or I never stopped before. I digress, The rides there must be a very good training ground. Especially for sprint racing.
