The cycling channel.

I discovered the cycling channel last night 24/7 videos and commentary by the winning rider. They discuss strategy the cameras showing front and rear views. I'm probably preaching to the choir as you-all probably already watch it. As a newbie I find it very educational and am having a crash course in the cycling vocabulary and strategy.

Also I see that every rider sits on 3-5-$10.000 dollar bikes. No cables, no clutter on the bikes. Is it even worth keeping my Trek 1400? My thoughts are get back in shape, gain some racing experience, find out even if I'll stick with it then think about a better bike.

As I'm sure you're aware, UCI regulation 19/2022 requires that any bike within a 50 mile radius of a UCI-sanctioned event is made of carbon and has no visible cables, so that's that decided for you.

But seriously, ride whatever you feel good on and what makes you happy and with the people who make you happy. At the mass participation events that I prefer, there's everything from 10000€ Aethos and Emondas to the ubiquitous Canyon carbon to 90s aluminium and steel touring, and the full spectrum of people from kids in trailers and on Follow Me tagalongs to eager young chaps in their Pas Normal lycra. I've never heard of the cycling channel though.
