Hello - from UBC
Hi,
Considering how many cyclists there are in vancouver, I figured I'd say hi from UBC
Anyway, i've been lurking around this forum for sometime now, and i figured i ought to sign up. Currently I ride a gary fisher Nirvana.
I used to ride a canadian tire CCM bike in toronto. It was solid. Its still at home in Toronto, rusting away quietly.
I don't know much about bikes, I can change my tires (with varying success), and i used to tune the brakes on the old CCM. I find all the different grades of bikes parts really confusing...(i.e. shimano this vs shimano that..).
But most of all, I like to ride around. And eventually, I'll be communting by bike

Welcome to BikeForums!
Nice to see someone else at UBC as well. I am not actually there yet (I begin my studies in September) but it seems like a really bike-friendly campus.
A few questions you might be able to answer:
Is there are a road racing team?
How bad is bike theft on campus? I am seriously considering buying a C-dale R700 either today or tomorrow and then keeping it in my dorm room. Would that work, or would it still be too much of a risk?
