Back after 35 years
After more than 35 years away from biking, I am back and love it. Been spending time in spin classes preparing for some great rides.
Picked up a 2017 Specialized Roubaix Expert which I enjoy, but miss my 1987 Cannondale ST600. The Roubaix seems a bit squirrelly to me, but a fun bike to ride with wireless shifting and disc brakes, all new since I rode. However, just found the same year and model in perfect shape that I just bought. It is lavender in color, my old one was "slate". I hope to add 700c wheels and wide tires, and maybe wireless shifting. See you on the road in Palm Desert, CA during the winter, and San Juan Island, WA in the summer. |
I've just gotten back into it after 30 years away. I also miss my old bike, a Peugot with skinny sewups, and brake handles on the hoods and a lever to extend them to the tops. But I love my new bike too, Cannondale Synapse 2LE. Di2 electronic shifting and hydraulic brakes are huge improvements.
I'm on Whidbey Island, and last Saturday went with my grandson to ride in the Tour de Lopez. The course was well marked and staffed to make sure you didn't take a wrong turn, or go straight when you should turn., If the check-in hadn't been such a cluster frak, it would've been perfect. I'm just a couple of islands over from you. |

It sounds like you always live where it's biking season. Why the spin classes then, instead of a bike club?
Getting outside is SO much better than the Pain Cave. ;) |
