Hi - intro from newbie in MA
Hi folks,
- thought it was about time I posted an intro. I just started riding this past April, and have been lurking for about the same. I came upon this site while researching my current bike, a mid-80's steel Raleigh Marthon that I picked up at a yard sale for $15. So far it has done okay by me. I'm slowly and as inexpensively as possible getting into gear (generic clipless pedels and Cateye computer off of e$ay, Diadora shoes from LBS, shorts and jersey from Nashbar, etc.) I'm pretty sure cycling is going to stick, but I want to be really sure before laying out bigger dollars. I'm actively searching for my next bike, which I'd like to be a early/mid-90's Cannondale. I'd like to try an aluminum frame and overall nicer bike, and don't mind downtube shifters at this point in my cycling career. I'm not too worried about bike weight either; I've got a "few" pounds to deal with on me before I start worrying about how heavy my bike is :-)
I mostly cycle in western MA (happy valley) on weekends. I try to get a lunchtime ride in here and there while at work in eastern MA (Watertown). I'm fortunate to be surrounded by supportive cycling colleagues.

Hi Kevin,
Best of everything on your new life as a cyclist. It's a wonderful life. For what its worth, I just bought a new bike this Summer, and I have sitting around not getting any use is my 3 y.o. Lemond Zurich. Its a 51 cm. model. I've kept it in tip top shape. It has full Shimano Ultegra. Interested? Email me if you want more details.

Welcome Kevin.
The older aluminum frames seem to have a harsher ride than the new ones so you may want to reconsider.
