Middle Tennessee

Good afternoon all,

I have been a member here for about a year but have not commented or asked questions. I can usually find the information I need by using the search button. I ride my 1982 Trek 728 and 1996 Rockhopper the most out of my bikes. I have never ridden a Road Bike, maybe one day. I do ride mostly small-town touring in my area. I do my own maintenance and upgrades as needed. I am in my 40s, wife and kids, dog and a couple of cats.

Welcome back.
I grew up in Nashville. Not too far from Vanderbilt U.

'82 Trek 728? = looks kinda roadie to me. Not racy but roadie.

'88 Ironman Expert = not roadie? :foo:

Bike paths and greenways, no road yet. No kit, just shorts and a fishing shirt lol. The geometry of my bike doesn’t look nearly as aggressive as a road bike. I am running 700x35, I also have the rack off in this picture.

Now my Ironman is frame only and a recent purchase. I won the bid on EBay for $1 😃.

I’m not against being a roadie, I just have never done it.

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin!

Cycling shorts are good, as they make the ride more comfortable, no matter what saddle you've got. Wear them instead of underwear and put your regular shorts on top, if you're shy.

Enjoy your stay.

hello from Atlanta. We have kids in middle TN, I'd love to hear some of your favorite small town rides, especially ones with hotels or other accommodations.

Do you find most TN city areas too congested for riding?

Not really too congested, only that not every city has the availability to ride safely in some towns
