Hi from Finland

Hello.

Seems like this forum is a great place for getting all sorts of info about cycling. I've been cycling more or less actively for 12 years now, mainly on a road bike with some mountain biking here and there.
Originally I started to cycle to accompany cross-country skiing training in the summer, but I think cycling kinda took over, as the main "hobby" for me after.

Have a great autumn all you.

Hello! I always wanted to go to Finland after I watched the film in 1979 "The Year of the Hare" by Arto Paasilinna. The book was even better! Enjoy the forum!

Jyppe welcome aboard. I just sprung for a new bike myself, a Ramblas so I can do serious cycling for fitness and get back into Cyclocross. Have you bikepacked in Finland?

I haven't bikepacked, but I have hiked etc. I have been thinking of getting a gravel bike, so I could potentially do bikepacking with it.

That's a good book/film.

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin, USA!

You aren't the first guy who took up cycling as an off season alternative to skiing and then wound up dropping the skiing. Greg Lemond comes to mind; have you heard of him?

Are bikes a common mode of transit where you live, or are they mostly just for sport?

Hi, Yeah I've heard of Greg Lemond via Wikipedia / Youtube. He had an amazing cycling career...
I live in a small city, so bikes are pretty common here like for a everyday use. Also I think road cycling as a hobby has become more prevalent in my area in the recent years.

For many years I worked with Outokumpu and loved to drive to their production sites, made the drive from Helsinki to Pori several times. Found your people forthright and your country stunningly beautiful, you must love the rides.
