New guy from Memphis

Greetings, y'all. I've just started my cycling journey at the tender age of 57. Learning a lot hanging out here. Thanks for having me.
(Gratuitous photos to earn early street cred)

Welcome aboard, 8trackmind! A Miami Vice Ironman :love:I have wanted one for a long time, but have given up on ever adding it to my garage and it has since been added to my "starts with an F and rhymes with bucket" list of dreams I have written off. Check out the C&V subforum, I bet you'll find a lot to interest you there.
Stay safe out there and ride that Ironman!
John

Thank you! It seems the used bike market is way down right now. I was looking for a group set off an Iron Man for my other centurion when I found the Miami Vice. Got lucky I suppose.

ODE to the 'ironman" bike - everyonne knows bio pace is the wave of the future!!!! Digging the big stem - got the bad boy up there - no more back aches?

Monster big gears - the "nearly corn-cob" cassette shows you stomp some big-ratio gears every where you go. And the rims pretty well evidence of multiple spoke tightening s in the past......

And of course - colored toe straps to enhance the "Scott certified" serious tri-bike.

Of course the The TCR1 was out ahead of the times as well. No doubt you get some double takes when riding either one - welcome to the forums.

Welcome to Bike Forums,
There are a few Memphis area members.
Nice bikes. I set up the bars and levers with a flat ramp to the hoods = like yours. :thumb:

I have ridden the roads east of Memphis - some in Collierville and roads more rural. It was a decade+ ago, but I only felt safe on the very most rural of roads where traffic was low. On public roads with traffic, it was not fun. Too few cyclists I guess, the cars are not used to bikes. Hopefully better for wherever you are.

Great time to fill the garage with old bikes, not the best to be thinning it all out it seems!

Thanks all, as far as the wonky "set up" goes, the Ironman has only recently been re-assembled from shipping
That photo was/is just the start. I'm still working on a few minor things like chain, tires, bar tape, paint touch up, and hope to have it road ready in the near future. I'll post those photos in the appropriate place very soon.
