Hello all,
Thanks for having me. Old timer here who has been out of the saddle for a coon's age. I am happy to be here and eager to refresh my memory and catch up on what's changed/improved since I was last riding.

Once upon a time (1980s-90s) I was a 200+ mi/wk roady and, in my 20s a city (Atlanta) commuter. I revived my riding back about a decade and a half ago up until '17 when a health problem and my son having a serious bike accident brought that to a halt. Now as a 60+ guy I am putting my one remaining road bike back in order to pick it back up before the sun sets, knowing full well that the mind is willing but the body is weak.

I look forward to learning what everyone here knows and humbly ask to be a part of the commumity.

One of the best parts of 50+ is greeting oldsters who are now cycling. For some it's like a Homecoming, for others Rookie season.

60+ = Sunset??? Heck (with good care & feeding) you are about 2PM. Plenty of time to ride and smile.
AND..... you need more road bikes. Variety and all that jazz about spice.

For colloquialisms, I'll see your coon's age and raise ya 1 dag-nab-bit.

I too am new and I’m also creeping up in age. My first retirement is in 6 years.

Thanks for the welcome Darkhorse and welcome back atcha. Congratulations on your eminent retirement. Since I am a small business owner retirement for me only comes in the eternal sense. But,...you can't have everything. If you did have everything where would you put it??? Think about that one for a minute...

I would put it back into my family for continued generational wealth.

My plan is to go right back to work after this first retirement (active duty military Warrant Officer) in 6 years at the age of 45 and invest all of the income from my second career. 20 years are going by quick.

Welcome back, Paul, from SE Wisconsin.

Putting your old bike back into service is a good first step, but road bikes have gotten a whole lot more comfortable, especially if you have no racing aspirations.

eBikes make the re-entry a lot more tolerable, and you're the kind of guy who is going to put in the work. You can also use them for daily errands without needing to dress up or get sweaty all the time.
