Back in the saddle!

Hello Bike Forums Folks. Getting back in the saddle or should I say on the saddle. Just bought a couple of used road bikes and looking forward to riding again. Broke my leg about 8 years ago, and then only MTB riding since. I started out in the 70" buying a Peugeot PX-10 around 76-77 timeframe. I still have the bike but has since been out of commission due to too many parts failures. Got a MTB and enjoyed the trails in the east bay area of SF Bay, CA. I got spoiled by putting Campy on my French bike, and was lambasted as sacrilege, but my bike was great riding and performance. Loved my bike! I just bought a Bianchi late 80"s with some Campy, and a Calfee Carbon all Campy and are starting to ride again on the roads. Loving life as I forgot how fun it was to have a little speed on the bikes vs. the dirt MTB trails. Excited about biking again, look forward to being on this site with other bike enthusiast.

Glad you are here, kirkcampyfool! If you ever get a mind to get that PX-10 on the road, the C&V forum is filled with vintage French bike experts who could give you advice on possible replacement parts. Stay safe out there and I look forward to seeing your name pop up in the forums.

70's PX-10, 80's Bianchi, Calfee?

Well all I can say is = "I could not agree more."

You are cracking me up!!! The PX-10 and Bianchi are the same colors as well. The Peugeot is a little newer white color larger "Peugeot" gold lettering, I bought it when I was 16 in '76. I had to wait 5 extra months due to a labor strike stopped production. I will upload my photo's as soon as I can as well. Thank you, who'd da thunk I had a bike doppelganger out there.

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin.

Sounds like some nice vintage bikes you've got. I think your Campy stuff will even go up in value, now that it looks like Campy will go under.

Here's my vintage bike; it's not as racy as y'all's.

1977 Schwinn Suburban. It has the front freewheel system, but also has a rear freewheel that seems to not be stock. The ancient front tire has since been replaced.

Smaug1, thank you, old bikes are still very fun to ride.

sweet bikes! welcome. Getting back in the saddle always feels a little awkward at first, but it comes back quickly. Even short rides help rebuild confidence and muscle memory. I usually start with familiar routes before pushing distance again. One afternoon after a ride I caught myself searching the ravalli republic phone number while handling a separate task and realized how scattered post-ride downtime can be. Stick with it — consistency makes the difference.

Williscreg, Hope to have the Windsor up and running in a few weeks. Welcome to the forum as well.....
