sup fellow biker dudes and dudettes
i've been lurking around here for a while and after much deliberation, i decided to join this fine internet community. for those who want to know, my hometown is florence, south carolina and i'm currently a student at usc (NOT southern california) where i'm listed as an english major, but really have not a single idea of what i want to do. all i know is i want to get around by bike instead of by car, except when hauling my drums around town along with everyone else's equipment because they don't have any "space". at the time i own two bikes: a crappy mongoose mtb tank a friend gave me and a 2004 khs flite 300 road bike which i LOVE. i love riding them both and plan on getting some more bikes in the future (next will be a fixed gear because i'm a simple man with simple needs), but at the time i'm broke and with rising tuition, i'll be broke for a long while. so, i guess that's my introduction. hey!

Dood, give up on the english thing and find a major that earns you real money. I did the english thing. It's only good if you are going to teach or write a book. Experiment around and find another major that can interest you and minor in the english so you'll still learn how to write well.

i don't really care that much about money as long i earn enough to support a family and provide the necessities, and i don't really consider myself an english major- it's just something to put on paper for the time being (it also gets me the priority registration i wouldn't get as an undecided). i've thought about going into business or maybe science but for now i'm just taking general classes most majors require. eventually i'll decide on something but there's no rush, really.

That's what I'm saying... I'm not talking millionaire. I'm just saying the jobs tend to be lower paying. If you like writing, but you don't want to be a teacher or write a book, consider either doing communications or journalism, or perhaps even publishing or marketing.
