Hello folks, this is a new member from Santa Clara, CA and a proud owner of a brand new Trek 2100  Just upgraded from a 6 years old Trek mountain bike to a decent road bike. I bike to work and also bike at weekends. This weekend I am going to ride for charity in Sonoma and try to complete a 100 mile route with over 4500 ft elevation gain in total

Welcome. I used to live in Sunnyvale and did a lot of biking in that area before I left.

Are you riding the Waves to Wine out of Santa Rosa? I did my one and only century on that ride. What a great route the first day out to the coast. Have fun!

Welcome! I'm in San Mateo and also have a 2100 - a great bike! Good luck on the ride this weekend.

Hello and thanks ctyler, I live right next to Sunnyvale and yes I am doing the Waves To Wine tour :) I am hoping to do 100 on Saturday and if I have no problems getting used to my new bike I want to do 50 on Sunday.

Thanks mtnroads, which model year of 2100 do you have? I bought the 2005 model, better spec'ed and the price is the same as 2006 (2006 is lower spec'ed and is cheaper than 2006, well the guys at Chainreaction said so anyways). So far I love my new bike :D It is just amazing! I fitted a computer and a man's saddle since I bought it. So far I've only done 45 miles on it. I am hoping I will not have too much trouble getting used to it on the century ride.

You're going to love that ride. It's a great route and great riding. Have fun!

I used to commute to work as well. I worked for Claris, now FileMaker Inc., in Santa Clara on Patrick Henry and then for Vantive, bought by PeopleSoft bought by Oracle.

I still have friends out there who ride so if you're ever looking for riding partners, PM me and I'll put you in contact with them.

Hey thanks aadhils. I see you are from SC also, if you see a a guy wearing a very bright orange jersey on a Trek 2100, it is probably me, say hello

Yeah I know, this will be my 3rd MS Waves To Wine ride. This year I want to do more, last two years it was 100 miles total (not too bad on a mountain bike), this year I am hoping to do 150 miles total.

Yeah I'd be interested in meeting with other riders from around here. I'll send you a PM after the MS ride.
