hello from Birmingham, AL

Hello all, my name's Adam, 26 years old and a complete newbie. I took my 4500 Trek to the trail for the first time today after a week of riding the roads near my home. Had a blast, although I am very much not in shape. Thanks for all the info, take care, and Roll Tide...

You were doing good until that Roll Tide comment. You should have closed with a Go Dawgs! My wife also rides a Trek 4500. Several of my friends have used it when we have gone trail riding. It seems to be a fairly good bike for a reasonable amount of $$'s.

For those of us to your east it is hard for us to imagine that others would try to imitate or copy by repeating our cry of GO DAWGS.

A few posts have mentioned Oak Mtn. Is it worth a trip over from the Atlanta area?

Oak Mountain is a cool trail. "Real" singletrack for most of it. I ride road mostly. Oh, in Birmingham. Join us Tuesday night for the Miss Electra and the Nakid Guy ride. Meet at the Cantina at Pepper Place at 6:00pm. Need a light and be willing to climb.

Oh. Go Saluki's!
