From Nebraska's Star City. . .
Salutations all,
I live in Lincoln, Nebraska, which is not as flat as I had originaly believed it to be before I started riding my bicycle a lot. After having my second bike in as many years stolen, I broke down and did something I had been threatening to do for quite some time - get into the road bike business. I have been the owner of a shiny red Giant OCR3 for the last three weeks now, and it has been, next to my wife and child-to-be, the most welcome addition to my life. Thus far, I have avaraged to ride 10 - 20 miles a day (which isn't bad considering I only HAVE to commute two miles to work - I like doing things in a round about fashion), and I am working up to being a weekend warrior as well with rides in the 30 plus mile range. I hope to increase that distance, but riding in old gym shorts is really holding me back on those long trips.
I really am just on my bike to get into and stay in better shape. Eventually, I would like to do some light to medium touring. I'm not really too interested in racing, but if I get to become some kind of speed demon, that line of reasoning could change. I'm mostly lurking around these forums to meet other people with whom to putz around Nebraska's fair capitol. If you're a Cornhusker, gimme a shoutout.
