Bikes: Custom S&S coupled cross bike and a custom S&S coupled 29er single speed

Hello from Alaska

I am 50 years old and live in Southeastern Alaska. I commute by bike occasionally, but otherwise ride somewhere most every day. I ride one of two custom builds, both equipped with S&S couplers. I travel a fair bit, and often as is practical, take a bike in its suitcase. Cycling has become more than a hobby. Salvaging, bartering, buying, repairing, rehabilitating and giving away bikes, here and when traveling has broadened my experiences. It is a constant battle to refrain from collecting bikes, but I satisfy myself by occasionally re-configuring my two bikes. Currently my main ride is a single-speed, drop bar 29er. With studs.

Is it all super hilly, or are you in a flat part of town?
