Oregonian says hi
Just joined and live in Bend, Oregon. I'm 36 and 35-40lbs overweight, and woefully out of shape. My mission for this year is to lose the gut and get back in shape. My wife is being very supportive so that is a plus. I know that traditionally people will do weight training and jogging for their strength training/cardio combo. However, jogging has always been terribly boring to me, so I'm looking to get into road biking. I would like to be able to get into good enough shape to start doing centuries.
Well, that's about it. see you around the forums.

Sore saddle cyclist
Welcome Pale Rider, best of luck with the goals, plenty of magnificent scenery to keep it interesting, and hills and headwinds to make it beneficial! See you on the Sunnyside Century!

I too was a cyclist...40 pounds ago!
Hey pale rider,
I'm getting back into riding after awhile out of the saddle. I found commuting difficult when I started, due, in part to the weight.
What I found most helpful was working on a trainer a bit. This allowed me to concentrate on my form and was very easy, despite the weather. Everything was easier (bike handling, dealing with clothes once at work) with a measure of fitness.
Remember to keep it pale...wear you sunscreen!
